Thermal Energy Recovery

For sites that want hot water rather than electricity from their incinerator’s waste heat, our thermal energy recovery unit is a 71kW to 350kW heat exchanger designed to install onto any Addfield incinerator. It works by pulling waste heat directly from the machine’s chimney stack, using dilution air to cool the gases before they enter the recuperator.

The recuperator then transfers that thermal energy from gas to liquid indirectly — the two streams never mix — targeting a water temperature of 95°C. That heated liquid is stored in an accumulator tank, where a coil fed by your domestic water supply picks up the heat through a liquid-to-liquid exchange, delivering hot water ready for immediate or later use at a nearby premises.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this system avoid mixing waste gas with the water supply?

The recuperator transfers thermal energy from the gas stream to the liquid stream indirectly, meaning the two never physically mix — the heat is transferred through the exchanger itself.

Yes, it’s designed as an add-on heat exchanger suitable for installation on any Addfield incinerator — tell us your existing model and we can confirm compatibility and expected output.

Yes — the hydraulic lift table is an optional accessory that can be added at any point to make loading easier and reduce manual handling risk.
